Poll Results: How Many Water Parks Have You Visited in 2011?

The results of the poll are in, and it seems the majority of voters have been to 1 or 2 water parks in 2011.

Not a lot of voters, but then again, this isn't a major poll. Hopefully I can rally up more voters for this next poll, which will last throughout the month of February. I hope you, the reader, could mention the poll to anyone in general; be it via Twitter, Facebook, a forum, word of mouth, etc.

The February poll is now up, and the new question is...

What type of water coasters do you prefer?

10 Days 'till Poll Closes

This is just a friendly reminder to those who do not follow me on twitter (@WaterSlideDB), you have ten more days to vote on the poll on the right side of this blog. If you have not done so, then I strongly encourage you to. It's an anonymous poll and it only requires two clicks! One to select your option, and the second is to submit it!

That's it!

Once this poll is over, I'll post a new one and put a shorter deadline on it. I might have them as monthly polls, meaning that I generate a new poll every month.

Wild Wadi's Jumeriah Sceirah Taken Down?

If you follow Wild Wadi on Twitter, or you live in the Dubai area, then you may have heard about Wild Wadi's closure for refurbishment. Well, according to an article posted on thenational.ae, the park's tallest slide, The Jumeirah Sceirah, will be taken down to be replaced with an even more thrilling water slide.

Click here for the full article.

Sounds exciting, but what could be more exciting than a multi-drop slide? A normal free-fall slide?

Edit: An entertaining video uploaded by Wild Wadi to YouTube about the takedown.

Focus of Water Slides Recently

Multiple master blasters at Aquaventure in Dubai
It seems the focus with building certain kinds of water slides have been shifting as time progresses. For a while, the main focus were the water coasters with the Master Blasters, the conveyor launchers (zip coasters), and the Hydromagnetic water coasters. The main differences in these slides are the facts that the master blasters use water to propel riders uphill and do not require specially made inner-tubes or rafts, the hydromagnetic slides use magnets that pull the rafts uphill and the slide surfaces are the smoothest compared to other water coasters, and the conveyor launchers use conveyor belts to carry riders onward and do not require as much water as do the others (correct me if I’m wrong).
